Before launching themselves as an active member of the blogosphere, most future bloggers ask themselves the same question: Blogger or WordPress? In this post I don’t really want to answer in detail which of the two platforms is the best.
Blogger or WordPress?
My personal preference is WordPress(.org) not only because it is the leading blogging platform but also because it is what I have been using since I started 7 years ago (and I don’t like changes very much).
I confess that I am not an expert on platforms since I don’t know Blogger as a content manager in an operational way. Most of the knowledge comes from comments from participants of the “Course for bloggers” and an exchange with other bloggers.
Advantages of opening a free blog on Blogspot.com or WordPress.com
Not everything is bad. Opening a blog with Blogspot.com or WordPress.com has some essential advantages, especially if you are belgium phone number library taking the first steps. Depending on your goals with your first blog, choosing one of these options may be a good idea to get started quickly:
No cost
Both WordPress and Google Blogger advertising material offer a basic version at no cost. For the beginner blogger, this can be a risk-free way to find out if the initial flame for blogging doesn’t die out after a short time.

Disadvantages of creating a Blogspot.com or WordPress.com blog at no cost
If you find yourself getting serious about blogging, you quickly reach a ceiling of your possibilities. What was initially ideal for getting started now causes moments of frustration because you cannot develop your blog as you would like. Above all, the free version of WordPress has many limitations.
Very limited functionality
forget about WordPress plug-ins in the free “.com” version. It is like playing Settlers of Catan without the Cities and Knights extension. Once you have enjoyed the full version of the game, you will never want to go back to the basic version.
2. It does not allow you to include Google Analytics: in the case of WordPress.com you do not have access to detailed Google Analytics statistics. Blogger has the advantage of allowing this.
3. Default advertising: in WordPress.com, ads are automatically included in your blog over time. You do not earn anything from this. This is not the case with Blogger. Here you can choose to include Google advertising that generates income for your own bank account.
4. Limited image storage: Just today I received an email from a reader who uses a Blogspot blog asking me if I knew of a way to avoid the cost to continue with the blog because he had reached the ceiling for image storage in Picasa.
